We love working at many different styles of venue as part of our wedding catering services, creating delicious food experiences, whatever the theme or tone of the day.
However, for couples looking to put their unique stamp on celebrations, a wedding doesn’t have to include a traditional wedding breakfast. Banquets are an excellent idea for those who want to create a real buzz, have a venue perfect for long tables and love the idea of hog roast sharing platters.
This summer wedding took place at the Yoghurt Rooms, based on Busses Farm in East Grinstead, West Sussex.
The Brief – A Game of Thrones Wedding Banquet
Back in July, the Gourmet Hog Roast team provided banquet style wedding catering for the lovely couple, Graham and Jacqueline. The venue chosen was the Yoghurt Rooms, which is a beautiful barn space. Couples can treat the barn as a blank canvas, customising it how they wish, giving our couple the flexibility they needed to create a banquet themed wedding breakfast.
The event theme was a Game of Thrones style wedding, taking place in this quirky space. Therefore, we helped them plan the perfect wedding food to fit the theme. The long tables with the family ‘houses’ suspended above were ideal for a hog roast banquet to remember.
The Results – A Feast to Remember
The food was served as a banquet of sharing platters, big wooden salad bowls and side dishes. As you can see from the images, the hog roast with crackling looked and tasted delicious, creating the sense of a ‘feast’ for an incredible atmosphere. All the food was brought to the tables before the guests tucked in.
The Yoghurt Rooms was the ideal event space for Graham and Jacqueline’s wedding banquet. The owners are a Dutch family who still run some livestock, have a small vineyard and are pretty hands-on, giving you a personal experience throughout. Not only can it be used for weddings and events, but the grounds can be camped on, it’s pet-friendly, and the area is secluded, so you can play music in the barn until late.

The food went down really well with both the client and the venue owner; so much so that we’ve been invited by the Yoghurt Rooms to be a part of their open day in April 2020. We can’t wait to meet those attending and showcase what we can offer!
